berlingot

berlingot by lehmann florence from france

designer's own words:

as a designer of contemporary jewelry (single pieces or prototypes)
i’m also interested in design and more specifically in the relationship of objects to the body.( between the object and the body )
i like the simple and well designed objects.
nice, but tactile
beautiful but functional
for this competition, the function makes sense.
my forms are born from an idea.
then i put it in shape with the most appropriate material or technique....
then, i used to think with my hands.
no sketches, no technical drawings
but I can send you the models!

nice for the eyes
nice in the hand
inspired by the shape of a berlingot.
a folded tube (decagon faceted)
ending in a thin line :
pleasant in the hand
vibrant with its streamlined line.
classic but very contemporary
essential simplicity…

the model is made of folded paper,
but i imagine this handle made in brass with a chrome finish :
matt for sobriety…
or polished mirror, for fun :
so the light can play in the faceted polished chrome,
and can reflect all the atmosphere of the room.
