designer's own words:

The interesting thing about doors is that they are at the same time border and passage. As a designer this allows you to leave the two dimesional aspect and give the doors a three dimensional shape. The function of the door has become visible in its design. 'Curious' is meant to be a door for the living-room area. The thickness of the door should emphasize that the room to be entered is a special one: a private domain that visualizes the identity of the owner (of the house). Necause the living-room is a space where guests arewelcomed, the door is designed in such a way that it always seems ajar. To put emphasis on this design feature the face side of the door is painted in a bright colour. The aluminium door-handle looks like one on a safe, but functions as a normal handle by pushing it down. The door itself is veneered or painted and ismade of a hollow-core structure with a wooden frame.
