designer's own words:

Recycling products are everywhere at home. The kitchen is especially a place which contains many products that are to be recycled or be reduced. But what about the homeenergy?Commenly it is expensive to use a lot of electricity or to use fullpower heating during a long time. But mostly we install the gas/water/electricity meters on a hiding place (for example in the basement). At the end of the year we check the meters and then we get frustrated. The "energy index" takes the energy consumption in the living room. You are playfully confronted (on a visuel form) with the present consumption at home. Everyone can find his own average energylevel. The topic of energyconsumption frees itself from its hiding place and becomes visible in the everyday life. The product enables you to understand your energyconsumption and to react. The "energy index" is connected with the meters. The new meters are checked from outside with radio receivers. This is one possibility to use this technology for the product.
