Creating a new center for the kitchen, this island provides both production and disposal. A small planter area allows fresh herbs and spices to be grown and prepared on the cutting surface, while the waste is dropped into the removable compost bins. Through the use of vermiculture (red round worms) the biowaste is converted to rich soil that can be returned to the planter area or to other plants in the house or garden.
