designer's own words:

At present, many electronic products are integrated with solar cells, such as Samsung’s “BLUEEARTH” and LG’s “ECO friendly”, etc, but the integration of solar cell and cell phone has the following defects: 1. Low utilization ratio; most of people are used to putting their cell phones in bags or pockets where they have few opportunity to contact sunshine. 2. Solar cells are different from cell phones in lifecycle. A cell phone is usually replaced every a few years while a solar cell can be used repeatedly for a few decades. It actually will be a great waste if the solar cells usable for longer time are thrown away for the replacement of cell phones. Green badge is an independent solar cell module composed of photo-electricity conversion coat, ultrathin battery pack and shell. It takes on the shape of a piece of leaf with a pin at leafstalk, with which you can conveniently pin it to clothes and bags. Even you can use it as a kind of decoration, for example a hair stick or necklace. It not only has a fashionable look, but also can get full exposure to sunshine. As a badge, it can also bring users the sense of identity and success in terms of “green consumption” and have a good social effect of publicizing “using green energy”. Power pins and capacity indicator are set at the root of leafstalk. It can charge electronic equipments with collected energy after being inserted into collector. The collector itself can also be used as a reading lamp.
