Hypertrophy

Hypertrophy by ale plasencia from spain

designer's own words:

Hypertrophy is a process of generating space that reflects Asia’s thriving growth and energy. The space is bounded by two symmetric layers formed with units with completely different materialities.

The starting point is always the same, a determined number of balloons knotted by their “navels”. On the floor they are covered with crystal clear polyester resin, when dried, this material generates a new dimension of polychromatic and subtle reflections.

The sky is bounded with retro-luminescent polyurethane foam units, they are formally tectonic but radically hyper-artificial. These visually divergent worlds are linked by the symmetry of the space, arranged according to the strict variation of parameters which form a baroquesque, oval composition.

You can breathe the expansive phenomena of Asia, with the resin’s pristine clarity, but also the delirious and amorphous nature of the polyurethane.
