designer's own words:

In an urban world, where our lives are accelerated by the fast communication technologies, in which all the information and transports are accessible and fast to everyone, time is shorter and life is very active. Our home spaces are smaller and multi-functional. The same space can serve the many needs a home can have, being even more practical on it's use. It is on the today urban life context that the contact with nature is lost, and it's own sensation of peace also. Life is to accelerated and active, and even more influenced by the fast information technologies that we referred on the above paragraph. This project, considering this context, is a multi-functional space, in which the kitchen, can be also a space to eat and a space to be with other people or just have fun or relax. The kitchen, known as a practical, functional and cold space, is also a space of reflexion e relaxation, in which is possible to have some rest or just spend your time. It is the opposite of the stressing life we live today. It is also the result of the need to join the many home functions, considering the smaller spaces. It is trying to bring back the contact with nature, re forcing the notion of a living space that exists to bring you the sensation of peace and rest that we've talked about. It's a space where you can just stay, and be/exist. Resuming, this space can be just a kitchen, a space to eat, a living space, or it can be all of this at once. The system used was thought to hide the kitchen space, when it's a living space and vice versa. It is a multi-functional space, but also a flexible one, flexible to all kinds of appropriation that it's user wants to have of it.
