ORBEET is an energy-saving food storage appliance designed to eliminate refrigerator energy waste by facilitating the user’s individual electrical and culinary needs. The cylindrical form factor and large windows on each module provide a 360 degree rotating view of fridge content facilitated by the integrated handles located on each module. When the user rotates individual modules, they engage a giant hand crank: the motion generates a small amount of electricity that supplements the fridge’s energy demands. The individual modules can be programmed to accommodate foods such as produce that require specific temperatures to stay fresher longer. Combined with item visibility, ORBEET may reduce waste by enabling the user to quickly identify which foods need to be replaced before expiration and which items are needed during the next trip to the market. ORBEET’s energy saving capabilities and revolutionary visual cues make it the ideal sustainable replacement for conventional refrigerators in a sustainable future.
