PLANET EARTH - DIRECTIONS FOR USE The project consists of a series of four »package inserts« giving instructions for the use of planet Earth. There is one leaflet each for the atmosphere (mantle of air), biosphere (organisms or biomass), hydrosphere (mantle of water) and lithosphere/pedosphere (mantle of rock). The familiar design aims to arouse our interest, make us think and ultimately change the way we behave. The leaflets describe the dramatic changes currently occurring on our planet and suggest countermeasures that every one of us can see the wisdom of and can take without the need for large sacrifices. Rather than wagging a moralist finger and making us feel guilty the project intends to raise awareness of how we can use our Earth more prudently. In the same way that every medicine is a means to help us survive, we are here made aware of the importance of treating the EARTH with respect and moderation as a means of survival. We can succeed if we ourselves "are the change we wish to see" (after M. Ghandi).
