designer's own words:

The Ripples Range draws its inspiration from the ripples on water. The key pieces, the ‘Patter’ and ‘Sushi Plate’, are like 3D photos. Their surface emulates the normally brief and ephemeral moment of ripples on water and like a photograph, freezes that moment in time. It captures the complexity of the radiating rings and the interference pattern that the two converging ripples create. This range uses CAD and Rapid Protyping to produce the models. I wanted to use technology to make objects that while simple and familiar, are impossible to create by conventional modelling techniques. The aesthetics of the objects do not proclaim or celebrate their digital origins and yet these objects are truly a product of technology. This range is designed to be produced using earthenware or porcelain. www.brianadamsceramics.co.uk
