designer's own words:

Awning-tent is installed on the outside of the window to block the sun, it controls the amount of sunlight to prevent direct touch of direct/ultraviolet light to the internal area. The previous awning tent equipments were to prevent sunlight, but this time reusing the light energy were considered and was practiced in environment friendly way. By using awning-tent which simply blocks light is used to convert the light into energy – we hope for the environment friendly power reduction through this product.
