life size cast epoxy with 12 inch sub and 500w amp

bumpin’ the plastic oak

designer's own words:

The sublog is a sealed box subwoofer with an audiophile quality sub and 500w bash amplifier. it is a life size full scale cast of a a california oak log acquired from a forest north of san francisco. the epoxy that makes up this six foot log was slush cast into a silicone rubber mold, and filled with rigid foam, the exterior was then painted with auto-body paint and coated with u.v. protectant clear coat to avoid yellowing. this project is part of my continuing research about the relationship between nature and technology. it is the perfect log to accompany the flickering light of your 50" lcd campfire, or crank up the people under the stairs and scare the squirrels, (what i use it for).
