WABI SABI TO THE STREETS OF HARAJUKU KIMONO

WABI SABI TO THE STREETS OF HARAJUKU KIMONO by wwvv from sweden

designer's own words:

We have designed a Kimono fashion product.
Our project consists of a Project Brief, Mood Boards, Flat Sketch, Print Artworks and Design Illustration.
The print quality is semi shiny silk. This project is finished and is ready for manufacturing and production.
Coming from Iceland, we would like to put our own creative flair on this wide and indefinite subject by taking inspiration
from the iconic Icelandic landscape.
By applying the aesthetic of WABI SABI in terms of graphical layout and pattern,
we created an avant garde Kimono influenced by the Harajuku visual grammar.

THE GOAL IS TO RAISE AWARENESS TO THE UNIQUE KIMONO CULTURE
THAT IS ALMOST DISAPPEARING IN MODERN JAPAN.
WE WANT TO TRANSFROM THE TRADITIONAL KIMONO INTO A MORE MODERN ONE THAT
THE HARAJUKU TRENDSETTERS IN TOKYO WOULD LIKE TO WEAR.

WABI SABI
The ancient Japanese world view and aesthetic
Nothing lasts, nothing is finished, and nothing is perfect.
HARAJUKU
Modern Pop subculture
Everything allowed, freedom of expression, youth, the future of modern Japan.
