as we become increasingly bombarded with information and stimulation, the world is becoming a louder place. in an initiative that goes beyond retail, freyja sewell has pioneered ‘headspace meditation pods’ from cooked wool – celebrating the power of silence, allowing to see the beauty in function and find calmness among the crowds.

 

each pod is made entirely from renewable resources. the rigid part is formed out of cooked wool – an entirely new sustainable material developed by freyja for the london design museum. a bio plastic made from potato starch is used to bind the natural fibers together to form a new composite blend. each dome is covered with a handcrafted wet felted cover – using a particularly durable course fleece, deriving from native bred sheep found in the UK.
