portuguese designer marcio rodrigues has developed ‘naturum’ a nature museum located by the goteborg river in sweden. the structure has two main intentions; to be a beacon / lighthouse for the city and the exploration of light-weight materials. the building is made of polycarbonate panels that blend with the colors of the site and the sunlight. it’s a neural element which gives an industrial aesthetic to the complex. during the day, it appears to be a silent intervention. during the evening, it becomes a reference for the river and to the city as it illuminates the skyline.

the main interventions were focused on the ground floor which reorganizes the bicycle / pedestrian logic (parking and walkways) and the ferry tram station. it takes advantage of the 24/7 lounge and creates more public programs such as a cafeteria and washrooms to establish a relation with the previous organization. the upper floors are mainly exhibition spaces which maximizes the silent atmosphere and allows visitors to see the diffused landscape through the polycarbonate walls.
