markus schwarz: die axt im haus
using found materials this table consists of discarded axe handles and vintage wood pieces. the multiplex of shapes create an elegant solution to the former lost objects.
the structure
four holes routed into a board, four axehandles fitted exactly and fixed with wedges—thats all you need. the design is as effective as brutal. the table is very stable but elastic and light. simple rural greenwood-stools, from the 17th century are its direct ancestors. you need a shaving horse, an axe and some chisels to build nearly everything a rural household needs—while I was looking at some axes, the idea was born.
