‘tetsu to kinu scarf’ by miya ando

american artist miya ando has created ‘tetsu to kinu scarf’, a neck piece reproduced to represent of one of ando’s steel paintings. made from silk and dyes, the scarf maintains an ambiguous balance between light and heavy through the use of a grey-scale color pallette. whether it’s wrapped around your neck, used as a vessel or simply hung on a wall, its appearance seems to morph, much in the same way the reflective qualities of her sculptures change the way you view her artwork depending on where you’re standing.
