‘portrait in chair’ by akio hayakawablack edition

japan-based designer akio hayakawa has developed the ‘portrait in chair’ during designtide tokyo 2012 earlier this month. the prototype takes the typical back-support and straight-line of the piece and puts it on a new axis into an orthogonal direction. the manipulation of the horizontal produces a visual effect while freeing up the vertical movement of the body.the furniture objects are made of MFD maple and measure 770 x 420 x 520 mm.
