breeding tables at stylepark residence
it is a project by reed kram and clemens weisshaar developed during the last two years.
In front of the ongoing debate about the changes brought on by the decline of manufacturing in
europe this project endeavours to take advantage of latent potential within existing industrial
structures by designing a process rather than a single product.
the output of that algorithm based process is an infinite number of unique products
- in this case tables - that can be made at competitive cost compared to modern age
standardized mass manufacturing.
a huge potential for value generation is buried in numerically-controlled machines that are
now put to use for relatively mundane tasks. while tooling times and the amount of hand labour
involved in manufacturing have dramatically decreased since the introduction of computerized
machine tools, the added flexibility built into these machines is still in many ways under-utilized.
the computational and mechanical capabilities of the machines are currently used to quickly
shift from manufacturing a batch of a specific piece to the next batch.
these machines in fact have the potential to put out ever-changing geometries given the
necessary digital information this capability is the starting point for the breeding tables.
