| alessi / siemes - a cordless telephone the cordless mobile phone has been presented at the triennale in milan together with the italian company alessi, siemens mobile developed the phone. designed by stefano giovannoni, it represents the start of a whole new generation of alessi communication devices. ---
stefano giovannoni explains his design idea: 'in other cordless models there is a typically male iconography, the handset is in fact always placed vertically and rests on a horizontal or slightly sloping base containing the answering machine. 'il telefono alessi' on the contrary has been designed as a unified icon, in which the handset and stand are interlocking, creating a homogenous volume from which the handset can be removed. an reassuring female icon: when placed on the palm of the hand its curves are pleasant to the touch. it results not only of the curvy design, but the material is designed to please as well: on the base and on the back of the handset, the white or black surface is enveloped in an injected transparent crystal-clear layer, which bestows a quality of depth and of finish to the surface of the object.' ---  back to milan furniture fair 2003 --- ---  ------- monthly designboom newsletter ------- ------- ? comments and contact us ? -------  |
