one PVC extruded profile-panel that is trimmed to different lengths to form this infinite cell structure.
the two ends of each panel are designed in such a way that the panels can snap or slide into each
other at 90° or at 180°. the system can create ‘low resolution’ pixilated surfaces and volumes and
can be used to make storage, shelving, partitions, racks or any structure.
the design of the panels is accompanied by a computer script that produces a cutting list to form
any virtual volume superimposed on a grid of cells.
a prototype version of this project was launched in milan in the marconi gallery as two intersecting
giant spheres: one snuggling at the corner of the gallery and the other hollowed out so that people
can walk into it. a more functional shelving like structure was launched at the magis’ stand.
the development of the system as a commercial product has now started.
