| howe / david rowland http://www.howe.com howe celebrates the 40 year anniversary of the legendary 40/4 stacking chair by the american designer david rowland. one of the most commercially successful contract chairs ever produced, for the 40/4 practicality was the prime consideration. the chair is extremely light and easy to stack, rowland strove to reduce the structure to its barest elements. a comfortable chair for use in offices, conference rooms and other public buildings. it can be stacked 40-high. when the 40/4 was unveiled in 1964 at the milan XIII triennale, its designer was awarded with a gold medal. in this exhibition a selection of prominent designers from around the world have fabricated their own creative 40/4 iconic object, twisted of course around the original 40/4 chair and its componentry.
