tuesday 2 to sunday 7 october
at various venues across prague

the 9th annual prague international design festival, designblok, was
held between the 2-7 october. the festival comprised of over 170
events across 60 locations throughout the entire city showcasing
the best of czech and world design and fashion. the hub of designblok
was once again the superstudio, situated in the expansive factory
buildings of the karlin area, featuring over 80 exhibitions and
pesentations there alone.

part of prague designblok 2007.


intercity: berlin - praha
the manes gallery, on the banks of the
river vltava in prague, was host to the
fourth year of the czech-german exhibition
‘intercity: berlin-praha’, presenting the work
of young graphic designers and illustrators
from both cities...more
designers' catwalk
the designers' catwalk gave young czech
designers the opportunity to exhibit their
work during the biggest design show in the
czech republic. sixty selected designers
and design studios were assigned
4 x 2.5m spaces within superstudio to
display their work ranging across furniture,
products, interiors, clothing, jewelry and

design milky way
the milky way exhibition has been a part of
prague designblok since 2002, showing
the work of 'future design stars'. this years
designs share the idea or experience of a
journey...more
qubus design
qubus design was founded in 2002 by
designers jakub berdych and maxim
velcovsky. at their studio and shop in the
old town of prague they exhibit and sell
their permanent collection of ceramic and
glass designs by both founders alongside
the various work of other designers who
share their subversive and playful design
sensibility that never fails to attract

student design 2007
the design centre of the czech republic
played host to the national prize for student
design 2007, an award ceremony and
exhibition of the best student pieces made
in the czech republic over the last

velcovsky installations
maxim velcovsky's name and recognizable
style could be spotted all across the recent
prague designblok 07 not only for his many
product designs, as exhibited by czech
design group qubus and czech furniture
manufacturers up zavody, but also for his
original installation designs for the krehky
exhibition of czech design and cappellini's
design race 07 exhibition at konsepti...more

seen at the ahrend studio during prague

corian
on show at superstudio during prague
designblok 07 was dupont corian's '40
years - 40 designers' exhibition. 40
designers from around the world created
a functional object exploiting the properties
of the material to mark it's 40th
anniversary...more

konstantin grcic
as part of the 'four diamonds' exhibition
during prague designblok 07 konstantin
grcic presented an installation of his
renowned 'family one' chair, called 'one
jungle', using modified variations of the
chair to promote the new bar stool edition

up zavody
up zavody, the legendary czech furniture
company, resurrected itself at this years
prague designblok. the company was
recognised in the 1920's and 1930's for its
enduring designs and unique customer
communication strategy way ahead of the
