a book on pierre restany

on september 11, 2004 at the biennale in venice
friends of pierre restany (among them stefano casciani,
alessandro mendini and lisa licitra ponti) presented a book on
the art critic, artist and writer who from the sixties was much
more than a distinguished and passionate collaborator for
the italian magazine ‘domus’.
for more than 40 years he helped shape its view of the world.
see the article ‘ homage to pierre restany, critic of the modern age’

this volume, edited by domus, and edited by stefano casciani
remembers the famous intellectual and one of the magazine’s
greatest spokespersons.
the book contains an anthology of his writings, exclusive images
from the domus archives as well as contributions from artists,
architects and designers who bear witness to restany’s teaching
and friendship.

casciani said ‘ it should help to retrace his countless activities
as a writer and organiser, both as ideologue and activist,
of artistic movements, and to understand his personal and
intellectual life’.
