apple presented advancements in software at their 26th world wide developer conference (WWDC) in san francisco, as well as their highly anticipated endeavor into the music streaming service, ‘apple music’. the music utility combines three different experiences into one manageable interface. first is a ‘my music’ a tab that enables access to the 30 million songs on ’iTunes’ through a streaming service, where apple can create playlists for the user through highlighted preferences, and an updated interactive ‘siri’ aid that helps in dictating specific music selections.

secondly, apple launched a 24 hour radio station labelled ‘beats 1’ hosted by djs from los angeles, new york, and london. it will offer interviews, guest hosts and exposure to new releases in an assortment of different styles. with a membership, the user has an unlimited skip count to all the curated stations that are categorized by genre from indie rock, to classical to folk and funk. finally, apple redeveloped an old social media platform called ‘ping’ and named it ’connect’ which couples fans to artists with exclusive photos, videos and backstage access.

the diverse service will start on june 30, 2015 with a three month free membership preview, followed by a $9.99 (USD) per month subscription fee. a family plan is also provided for up to six family members at just $14.99 (USD) per month. it’ll be accessible on all apple devices, but also on personal computers running windows, and smartphones with android software. developers will now have more access to apple watch with an overhauled ‘watchkit’ for ’watchOS 2’. now with permission to key hardware like the digital crown, taptic engine, heart rate sensor, accelerometer and microphone. advanced software APIs enable audio and video playback and animation, and with the ‘clockkit’ framework, developers can represent their data as complications on the watch face. the keynote also included updates their device software iOS and mac OS X.

with a free fall release date, both are centered on performance and stability issues that also include a sprinkle revamped applications and features. mac’s improved release is named ‘el capitan’, which blends quicker window management gestures and efficiencies that help applications like adobe and autodesk perform up to 40% quicker. apple also previewed iOS 9 with a handful of refurbished apps, open sourcing their ‘swift’ programming language and significantly shrinking update packages for the software. the conference displayed apple’s sharper direction with a clear emphasize on privacy, security and stability. relive the WWDC keynote presentation at apple’s website.
