renewable energy is on a rise across the entire globe, but the achilles heel of all that electricity is storage. batteries play a major role in how we stock pile electrons, where developments are important to continuously push the needle forward and away from fossil fuels. stationed in pittsburgh pennsylvania, aquion energy is a journey to change the way the world uses energy by delivering stationary energy storage systems that are high performance, safe, sustainable and cost effective.

sparked by researched by dr. jay whitacre in 2007 at carnegie mellon university, the company developed aqueous hybrid ion chemistry. it is composed of saltwater electrolyte, manganese oxide cathode, carbon composite anode, and synthetic cotton separator. the battery utilizes non corrosive reactions at the anode and cathode to prevent deterioration of the materials. the water based chemistry results in a non toxic and non combustible production that safe to handle and environmentally friendly.
