audi opted to go with a closed canopy design for its latest le mans prototype, the R18. for the first time since 1999,
the automaker abandoned the open top design to improve aerodynamics and reduce driver fatigue. powering this
new car is a 3.7 liter TDI v6 engine with a six speed transmission. the outer body is made from a single piece
carbon fibre shell that is both rigid and extremely lightweight. the car is also equipped with 100% LED lights that
will come in handy at the grueling 24 hour race that is le mans. the car will make its first track appearance in april
and should be a major competitor at this summer’s le mans race.
