south african collaborative studio, dutchmann coupled an accomplished local bicycle frame builder duncan macintyre with composite specialist anton dekker to construct a limited edition bicycle labeled the ‘vicious cycle’. the distinctive two wheeler is available in only ten versions, using hand built original macintyre frames, dekker tri-spoke wheels and select modern components. the tri-spoke wheels are custom crafted for the dutchmann ‘vicious cycle’ project by anton dekker and his team at exclusive conversion. they use advanced carbon fiber composites to produce bespoke components for brands such as porsche, lamborghini and ferrari

the process included the forming of a unique mould and hand coating of four layers of patterns to deliver performance rim requirements the rims can be either a fixed gear hub or coaster. employing a copper and zinc alloy, the hand soldered frame is made from reynolds 653 and columbus steel tubing, famed for its strength to weight ratio and flexing properties appropriate for track racing. the dutchmann ‘vicious cycle’ frame was stripped and coppered by gavin oliver, provided with black lacquer detailing by malcolm sampson and rebuilt by timothy abbot using an assortment of contemporary and understated components including a 3T, campagnolo, vredestein, cinelli and brooks.
