german firm EIGHT have collaborated with BMW group to unveil ‘point.one S’, a sustainable installation just outside the BMW welt in munich. the solar powered fast charging station – designed to match the surrounding architecture of the BMW welt – offers users a pair of combined charging system points. the energy-fueling hub has been implemented on site to create a central hub for electric cars, local public transport and electric bicycles as well as an intersection between local and long-distance transport routes.

the parametrically designed charging columns displays and delivers information about the current battery range. for long distance journeys, a charging strategy that shows users where, when and for how long the battery needs to be charged, before arriving at their destination.

the platform delivers pre-trip information including all relevant features like a range monitor 

the LED-based electric lighting concept supports an interaction between the solar charging station and the user

when users approach the charging point, the color and brightness from the LEDs change
