ever wondered what putting the internet on your wall looked like? jake levine has found a way to do so with EO1, a web-connected computer designed to bring the beauty of the internet into the home. launched as a crowdfunding campaign on kickstarter, the device is essentially a 23-inch HD matte display that runs off an cortex-A9 processor, ‘a screen that is worthy of that beautiful mess of human expression that pervades our connected lives,’ describes levine.

the EO1 has been developed to fade into the background, like a photograph or painting; it is supposed to seamlessly become part of your home. ‘there’s more art on the internet than in every gallery and museum on earth,’ he adds. ‘but many of these beautiful objects are trapped. they’re trapped inside of devices like our phones, our tablets, our TVs, our laptops — devices designed for distraction, living between texts, tweets, football games and emails from work.’

the display makes it easy to change your artwork as often as you want right from your phone – an easy-to use web and mobile iOS / android application makes it easy to discover, share, and display visual objects from around the internet. EO1 also runs javascript, meaning that artists can not only create static images or looped animations such as animated GIFs, but dynamic internet artworks. in addition to launching the product via kickstarter, levine is currently working with museums, libraries, and other organizations to bring the best of their collections onto the display.
