conceived as part of the ‘just add color’ campaign for converse, berlin based creative studio sonice development has printed three giant ‘chucks’ in berlin, hamburg and munich using their ‘facadeprinter’. the device uses paintballs to draw huge images onto walls – dot by dot, it creates large-scale murals in any dimension. an integrated computer within the easily transportable machine reads graphics from USB drives and can correct perspective and ballistic distortion when supplied with compressed air. equipped with a touchpad interface, the digital artworks can also be adapted to any architectural context; size, position and dot-density can be adjusted on-site for more accurate renditions of each model.
