the ‘H4D-40 ferrari edition‘ by swedish cameramakers hasselblad is a limited-production camera bearing the new ferrari ‘rosso fuoco’ colour and cavallino rampante icon. the 40-megapixel camera is sold in a sealed glass-topped box also marked with the ferrari logo. first announced in 2010, the camera has just been released for purchase.

with a 3-inch colour display screen and top camera grip LCD for shooting information, special features of the camera itself include an electronic level (in both viewfinder and LCD display) for alignment; and hasselblad’s ‘digital lens correction”, ‘natural colour solution’, and ultra-focus’ optimization systems. users can shoot with a custom hasselblad raw file format (openable in apple and adobe imaging interfaces): 3F RAW (.3FR) for lossless image compression at 33%.

the ‘H4D’ shoots between ISO 100 and 1600, with a shutter speed range from 1/800 of a second to 256 seconds (4 minutes, 16 seconds).

‘global image locator’ tags all outdoor images with GP coordinates, time, and altitude, and can be synced directly with google earth.

the camera is compatible with all 5H system lens, including extension tubes, and the HTS tilt/shift adapter frame. the kit lens is a fixed 80mm.

499 numbered cameras are to be produced, at the price of 21, 499 euro each (about 28,100 USD).
