ferrari & franchi’s blue sapphire conceals sail riggings for clean, low-profile approach

ferrari & franchi realize a 52 meter ‘blue sapphire’ for the perini navi award that celebrates the excellence of italian design. designers marco ferrari and alberto franchi drafted a performance cruiser ready for the occasional harbor race. it’s outfitted with a plumb bow and a modern stern with extensive outside areas for the owner and guests.

the forward main desk if free of riggings and conceals various winches beyond the garage. the stern includes a jacuzzi with a waterfall that is surrounded by a double staircase connecting the main deck to the beach club. the deckhouse has a slim profile with wide skiylights to maximize the interior lighting. inside, a main dining room with a table for ten guests connects directly to the main salon with glass sliding doors to offer a lounge equipped with a cinema display.

the ‘blue sapphire’ can easily accommodates ten guests in four double guest cabins, with the possibility to switch a cabin into a gym, plus a 42 square meter owner’s suite with two skylights, a studio and two bathrooms.

the front lower deck features five cabins for eight crew members including a space for the captain. the lowest deck has a second garage which can host tenders of up to 4.5 meters long. ferrari & franchi added a carbon fiber sloop rig for the 64.5 meter tall mast. the sail layout consists of a main sail, staysail, genoa, and jib. the hybrid propulsion allows the yacht to enter shallow protected areas with reduced noise and fuel consumption.
