NIKE partnered with creative agency guild, to create an engaging display using ferrofluid to launch the latest collection of the NIKE ‘KD8’ sneaker. the replica shoe has two neodymium magnets – both with the pulling power of 180 pounds, guides the ferrofluid along the sole. the 3D printed model is made of plastic with showing very detailed patterns of the sneaker, including textures and fabric patterns. the magnetic field causes the fluid to react by creating an illusionist spikey effect and organic flow.

‘NIKE has such a strong tradition in innovation and material science that creating an installation that reflected that passion seemed like a natural fit for the KD8 launch’, describes Sam Ewen, guild partner. ‘the combination of movement, art, and function were creative drivers for this piece.’ the guild NIKE ‘KD8’ scultpure is located at niketown in new york city, where customers can find in the front entrance on the ground floor.
