developed in collaboration with french architect jean-marie massaud, the toyota ME.WE electric car approaches transportation design with the intent to ‘instill’ human, economic and environmental challenges into a realistic conception of an ‘anti-crisis’ car for today. the cabriolet embodies an absorbing sensory experience that is adaptable to a wide variety of lifestyles, transitioning from the culture of ‘more’ to the culture of ‘better’.

manufactured out of a tubular aluminum structure, the ME.WE devises interchangeable expanded polypropylene body panels (doors, wings, bonnet, bumpers, etc.), where bamboo used for the floor and horizontal surfaces. additionally, the concept integrates an electric motor in each wheel, transforming it into a two or all-wheel-drive vehicle with the inherent capability of coping effectively with a range of different terrains.

on board, passengers always take priority over luggage, which can be carried on the bamboo roof – protected by a neoprene cover housed within the front portion of the canopy. mounted on rails in the floor, the rear bench-seat can be folded and stored under the front seat. alternatively, the removable bench seating system can also be used for a picnic on the grass.

  • Interchangeable body panels, the next trend

    george says:
  • I like it, but my problem is that lot of design students making similar concepts for decades. it’s a shame that famous names starting to copy students to make something which seems to be new…

    bali says:
  • looks like its full of bullet holes

    dbkii says:
  • Yes, this is how a car should be designed. Full of good ideas, mostly seen before (Panda 1980, Renault 5 Rodeo) but that don’t care

    BeKa says:
  • want it !

    yodec says:
  • Amazing!!… I want one!

    luisEfe80 says:
  • like a chunky mini cooper… only not cool

    Verso says:
  • always the same. innovation for cars = Iphone-coverss combined with surferlook.

    rnts says:
  • I would buy this car today, except for the seating!

    George says:
  • ehhh..mini cooper?is that you?

    qwer says:
  • It feels like they should have taken the concept a bit further. Imaging being able to change the character of your car significantly. People might hang onto their cars for longer and use it as a base.

    Justin says:
  • It looks like its in pain!

    siliconm says:
  • Body panels need to be made from something more sustainable otherwise this car might as well be petrol driven for all the good it will do.

    Charles says:
  • great concept for personalization of your car, but it looks awf u l here

    Julio Iglesias says:
  • Julio Iglesias the singer?

    hugo caro says:
  • Incredibly Creative! Love it…

    Ani says:
  • it has the look of a buldog from the front and the interior is fabulous … great creativity and it is my new dream car …
