‘him and her’ by lauren dicioccio, 2010 (hand embroidery on organza and pleather)

san francisco based artist lauren dicioccio recreates everyday objects and pieces of media using textiles
and time consuming embroidery. dicioccio describes her work as an investigation into the physical and
tangible beauty of objects like newspapers, 35mm slides and water bottles. ‘the tedious handiwork and
obsessive care i employ to create my work aims to remind the viewer of these simple but intimate pieces
of everyday life and to provoke a pang of nostalgia for the familiar physicality of these objects’.
