the series of 3D printed data visualizations, called ‘loci’ are customized digital and physical maps of your flight paths — the ultimate travel souvenir. netherlands-based interaction designer andrew spitz developed a program which allows users to visualize their trips, selecting specific departures of importance, or all of their voyages in a given year. to streamline the process, the software allows importing of past trip data automatically through selected apps. the system then generates a 3D printing file, one that each user can either print personally, or with a service like shapeways. the tactile travelogue documents history through technology — spurring recollection and reflection about travels and experiences.

each 3D printed sculpture is placed on a card, bearing the image of a world map, which acts as an infographic of the users journey — highlighting the airports flown to, the total distance traveled, and the number of planes taken. loci is to be integrated into an iphone app, co-created by spitz, called flying, a flight monitoring and tracking program.
