a new ‘intelligent turntable’ that allows record collectors to play vinyl directly from their smartphone is currently in the works. it promises music fans, ‘the intimacy of vinyl with modern day convenience’ and it ‘reads vinyl with a stylus, connects to bluetooth and wi-fi, and is controlled by your smartphone’ . designed by yves béhar, the sculptural-spinning object is capturing peoples’ imaginations with its unorthodox playing style — rather than the record traditionally turning on a platter, the technology literally puts a spin on vinyl.

designed by yves béhar, the ‘love’ device has an organic outer shell finished in glossy black, complementing vinyl completely. adding to its sophisticated-styling, on the underside it is finished in a rose gold. once ‘love’ is synced with an audio device, put a vinyl on one of the two complimentary 7” record bases. the intelligent system then scans over the record to determine its size and the number of tracks. if you’d like to start listening to track three, you can press the device’s exterior case three times, or alternatively, select it from the app.
the ‘love‘ smart music system allows owners to play their favorite records in a seamless fashion. vinyl can be played with the push of a button on the device, or it can be controlled via a smartphone using the complementary app. the ‘love app’ can play, skip tracks, repeat tracks, select different RPM speeds, turn the volume up and down, and display the album artwork. it allows the intimacy traditionally associated with vinyl and combines it with modern day convenience. ‘love’ can connect to any bluetooth audio device, and wi-fi multiroom systems. this includes speakers, headphones, and stereo systems. for traditional speaker systems that are not bluetooth enabled, ‘love’ also comes with a 3.5 mm or RCA bluetooth adapter.
the ‘love’ intelligent turntable isn’t available to buy quite yet, but intrigued vinyl and tech fans can sign up here to be notified towards its imminent launch.
