the creatives at peugeot are pondering what two door will look like in the near future. the ‘fractal’ is an urban coupe that the french have developed to has two 168 hp electric motors, located at each axle. they say the concept has a range of 450 kilometers on a single charge, from it’s center mounted lithium ion batteries. with a retractable roof, the car can go from zero to 100 km/h in 6.8 seconds without a single gear shift.

peugeot really wanted to showcase their thriving interior design with this coupe, focusing on sound need to be created by the concept. in 2019, the european union will make it mandatory for electric cars to make sounds to ensure safety concerns to pedestrians and cyclists. that’s why they’ve asked musician and composer amon tobin to help create a unique sound when the automobile reaches 30 km/h and higher. the sounds emitted needed to work with both the interior and exterior to amplify the driving experience. this required next generations speakers that direct sound inside the car, and outside. the seats assimilate bass speakers that offer a tactile element for the passengers.

the modern cabin is 80 percent constructed from 3D printed components, and was influenced by materials that absorb sounds, similar to textures found in record studios and theatre halls. the driver is faced with a small steering wheel that embraces a touchpad to control temperatures and the center console and is equipped with a holographic heads-up display and 12 inch digital instrument cluster. the peugeot ‘fractal’ concept will be display at the 2015 frankfurt motor show later this month.
