the most recent piaggio avanti P.180 twin turboprop, made in italy, is now is flying in the united states, with a recent delivery at john wayne airport in orange county, california. the ‘P.180’ airplane is known for its aerodynamic performance from its three-lifting-surface configuration, placing the main wing towards the rear of the fuselage, a smaller wing at the nose, also known as a canard, provides extra lift and efficiency, while a third wing is mounted on the tail. combined with powerful turboprop engines, the aerodynamic boost lets the ‘evo’ cruise at speeds up to 463 mph (793 km/h) for more than 1900 miles (3000 km).
