pininfarina alfa-romeo 2uettottanta concept from 2010 geneva motor show

fiat group automobiles S.p.A. have announced the signing of the final agreement with mazda for producing an
open-top two-seater sports car for alfa-romeo at its hiroshima plant starting in 2015.

originally debuting at the 2010 geneva auto show, the alfa-romeo 2uettottanta concept (as shown), was introduced as an
80 year celebration of pininfarina's designs, foreshadowing a collaboration between both japanese and italian manufacturers.
the new roadster however, will take styling cues from the iconic alfa romeo duetto and will be based on the architecture of
the next generation mazda MX-5. the agreement foresees for both companies to develop two differentiated, distinctly styled,
rear wheel drive vehicles, each to be powered by specific proprietary engines unique to their brands. rumor has it that
the offering will be powered by a turbocharged and direct-injected 1,750-liter four-cylinder engine capable of producing
up-to 250 horsepower.

    SBEAUJOUAN says:
  • Alfa 2ettottanta commemorates the centenary of the Pininfarina Studio and the eighty years of Alfa Romeo, two important brands for the design and for the automotive industry, besides being the last year of life of Sergio Pininfarina.
This is perhaps the most inspired design from them, a unique minimalist gem.
I’m happy for all those who appreciate the history of both designer and manufacturer, by this decision to become such concept into reality.
Glad also, by have being chosen MAZDA, for this very important work, in the impossibility to be done at home, at least, it will be done by an equally traditional, tasteful, responsable and innovative company.

    Sérgio Werneck de Figueiredo says:
  • THIS IS NOT THE CAR THAT WILL BE PRODUCED, this headline is so misleading.
    This is a concept.
Yes, it is official the new Alfa Spyder will be produced in the new MX5 platform, using it’s own body and engine.
Than body however is NOT HIS ONE – not even close.
Wiki: “he Alfa Romeo 2uettottanta is a 2010 Pininfarina concept car and a tribute to mark the 80th anniversary of Pininfarina and the centenary of Alfa Romeo.”

    Lorenzo says:
  • Let’s do this . This is so silky in the lines . Production is a must . Just beautifull.

    michel says:
  • In and out,, this car smoothly updates the 1972 GTV, already a beautiful car. I had one and miss it a lot.

    charles says:
  • This is truly a nice looking car but it doesn’t really look much different from a lot of the other convertible sports cars…..for it to truly stand alone they need to give her a personal look no other sports car has like take the Viper for example….but in all it does look sweet.

    Zoomfreaker says:
  • Hmm, you would think it would have Pirelli tires…
