in the second generation of the gran turismo, porsche has introduced the world’s first plug-in electric hybrid to the luxury class market. the panamera S E-hybrid’ is equipped with a 416 horsepower V6 bi-turbo engine taking the GT from 0-100 km/h (62mph) in 5.5 seconds. new and further developed technologies have enabled fuel savings of up to 56 per cent when compared to the previous 4.8 liter V8. the ‘E-hybrid’ receives an additional 95 hp thanks to its electric drive motor, drawing its energy from a newly developed 9.4 kWh lithium-ion battery. when connected to an industrial outlet, it can be charged within around two and a half hours via an integrated on-board charger. driving range is estimated to be 36 kilometers with top speeds reaching up to 130 km/h in all electric mode. the parallel full hybrid concept also offers ‘coasting’ at higher speeds, switching the internal combustion engine off and recovering energy by generating electricity.

the new exterior face lift sees tighter lines, more pronounced contours and newly shaped body elements, which is especially apparent in the larger air intakes and the distinctive transition to the newly developed LED headlights. the rear is also redesigned, including a wider spoiler showing a tighter transition to the taillights, similar to the visual transition at the front of the car.
