radius music is a digital design project by dave young, which combines ideas of cartography and graphics
to produce sound. the device is centered around an autonomous machine which revolves around in
circles, continually measuring the distance between itself and other objects. as the machine spins in
translates the distances it measures into relative sounds and a corresponding visual score. when placed
in a room, the device will measure the distance between it and the walls. however if people enter the
room, the sound created will be affected and change as the people walk around. the design was built
using arduino, puredata and processing.
