great japan carbon fiber motorcycle concept: dubbed the ‘samurai’, this futuristic concept depicts what the future of motorcycles might hold. created by ukranian and belarusian designers, vladimir panchenko and artem smirnov under the alias ‘great japan’, they have created no-less than forty sci-fi influenced product renderings in the past, most of which celebrate such a resolution level of graphical detail that they can easily be confused for real manufactured products.

in vladimir + artem’s view the japanese approach to design has always been original and is a foundation of artistic culture with its delicate art of origami and the fighting samurai spirit. the celebration of simplicity and space is seen in the industrial design sector coming from japan. from their perspective this approach is rarely used in today’s designs from japanese car and motorcycle manufacturers, but it feels the impact of european brands imposing their own rules of the game. now as a result, inexperienced users can no longer tell the difference between japanese and european european products. the ‘samurai carbon fiber motorcycle concept’ is designed with the intention of returning to these thoughtful methods of japanese design.

in addition to the name, the ‘samurai’s’ form appears to be rather fitting for a samurai-superhero. surely, if this vehicle were to ever be produced, it would be something many would consider upgrading to, due to its radical design and probable performance capabilities. this design exercise will almost certainly never make reality, and will remain only at a concept phase. still, vladminir + artem’s renderings can serve to inspire manufacturer’s designers to take greater risks, to design truly dramatic and mesmerizing motorcycles.
