savioke have announced the unveiling of SaviOne, a service robot designed for the hospitality industry. the automated ‘botlr’ bellhops will be dispatched at the aloft hotel in cupertino, where they will perform tasks in the front and the back of the house such as delivering breakfast or other personal items. the A.L.O robotic butler is approximately three feet tall, weighs less than 100 pounds, has a carrying capacity of two cubic feet, and is designed to travel at a human walking pace.

when the A.L.O arrives at the appropriate guest room, it phones the guest to announce its arrival, delivers the goods and makes its way back to the front desk. the robot will know when a guest opens the door via an onboard camera. once the door opens, A.L.O will unlock, open its lid and provide instructions through onscreen prompts for guests to remove the item and close the lid.

the robot uses a combination of sensors and WiFi/4g connectivity to communicate with the hotel and the elevator software, so it can navigate independently between floors and rooms without damaging anything or injuring guests and staff.
