the minimalist device connects with your shopify store

designed for selling at festivals, pop-ups and markets, shopify’s reader is completely wireless and lasts a whole week on a single charge. unlike other card readers that must plug into a headphone jack, the standalone device can be used almost anywhere, and the reader cleverly detaches from its base to allow customers to swipe at any angle. the card reader is made to grow with individual business owners, as they move from market stalls to pop-up shops, to eventually finding a permanent place.

the shopify card reader launched at unite—shopify’s annual partner and developer conference—and is compatible with europlay, mastercard and visa (EMV). the minimalist device wants to allow small businesses to be run from a single place, preventing sellers from having to spend hours upon hours updating in-person sales into records from their online store. EMV chip acceptance decreases the risk of financial losses for business owners, all whilst protecting customers’ data.
