professional maker and robotics enthusiast simone giertz solves the problem of sleeping-in with an alarm clock that will definitely get people up out of bed. using a rubber arm, a traditional bell clock and an arduino ‘UNO’ computer processor, giertz successfully built a minimal working alarm clock. she used a 165 rpm brushless DC motor that guarantees the power to slap someone effectively. using household items, simone giertz had some setbacks – overloading transistors and getting her hair stuck in the motor, but showed that with determination and persistence, you can triumphantly make an enthusiastic alarm clock that wakes you up.
