using the combination of traditional roof cladding and solar voltaics, the ‘SolTech‘ solution from the swedish energy company implements glass tiles on top of highly efficient, mono crystalline solar panels to generate electricity. protected from damage and theft, the strategic installation harnesses power from the sun, and captures the accumulated charge with the buildings existing heating system, usually through a storage tank. as a result, the system can provide hot water and heating for the majority of the year.

specially designed absorbers are installed into the glass roof tiles, through which fluids circulate. covered by a polycarbonate enclosure, the absorbers are placed on an insulating layer to prevents heat and loss.

solar cells are integrated underneath the glass roof tiles – the solar electric system has a output of 1 kWp

the glass roof tiles are made of high transparency glass with a low level of iron oxide. the installation uses a double-S profiled tile very similar to traditional concrete tiles used in nordic and other countries.
