tonino lamborghini, the sub-brand of car manufacturer automobili lamborghini has introduced ‘antares’, their first smartphone. as with all lamborghini products, the limited edition device comes at a hefty price. costing just over $4000 USD, the android-powered raging bull is as luxurious as its price tag: it features a hand crafted stainless steel body with a genuine leather rear panel and comes available in a variety of colorways, including an optional 24k gold finish. fitted with a 4-inch touchscreen covered in gorilla glass, the antares boasts a 1.5 GHz high-performance quad-core processor, 1 GB RAM, 32 GB internal memory and a slot for micro SD cards up to 32GB.
for a premium audio experience, the hand-held unit integrates a built-in yamaha amplifier and two speakers. the device is also equipped with two HD cameras: a 13-megapixel rear facing and 5-megapixel front-facing camera with full HD video support at 1080p. rather than sticking to google’s stock android 4.3 jelly bean operating system, tonino lamborghini has overhauled the interface with a custom design. the smartphone is expected to launch in early spring 2014.
