![]() WATER CONCEPT - IL SALONE DELL' ARREDO BAGNO --- 'inside the bathroom' competition results --- title: JETHEAD # : 997 jim hannon tan from australia ![]() designer's own words : Inspired by 1950's hairdryers, milkshake mixers and rolls-royce jet engines, the jethead seeks to employ technical principles behind these nostalgic forms. The faucet is turned on with a twisting motion. The temperature of the water can be gauged by the colour of rainbow LED, and can be adjusted when necessary, by slightly pressing and turning the cap. The temperature setting is retained, and as soon as the tap is turned on, the LED lights up again ( to the colour/temperature it was set to previously) Utilising the coanda effect, the water stream hits the jet-cylinder on a tangent, creating a whirlpool which is accelerated by the tapered interior. The opening 'aperture' is adjustable (using similar principles of a fire fighting hose) thus controlling the pressure and the final spray pattern, aswell as allowing the tap to be sealed shut. When the tap is on low pressure, the water flows around the cone (coanda effect again) to create a neat trickle. --- INSIDE THE BATHROOM - back to the index page - ------- monthly designboom newsletter ------- ------- ? comments and contact us ? ------- | |||
